Growing into lovely girls

From the moment the kittens opened their eyes, Red began to have a cult following due to her exuberant personality and cute shenanigans! Whilst others were concerned with sleep and feeding, Red was the kitten who would ensure she stood out from the rest with rolling around, tummy up and arms waving to sky playing to the  cameras* and loving the attention. Usually to be found rolling into, off or on top of someone else, Red, ( often whilst rolling around)  would also lovingly chew and nibble at not only her own paws… but everybody else’s too; sibling’s ears, tails and bottoms also received generous attention ( as did mum’s) , usually when they were just nodding off to sleep.

She is very independent, often still charging around when others have stopped for a nap, which means she sometimes snoozes in oblivion , face firmly planted in a blanket when the others are starting to rouse. Red can be a leader of games and exploration, but also happily self entertains with excellent climbing skills, bouncing and general racing around. Her Usual colours are rich , with ticking and markings developing nicely and also displaying lovely little black ear tufts. Definitely an attention seeker who will be into everything!

Yellow was the heaviest kitten from the litter at birth and maintained the role of being the largest kitten until solid food was introduced when the weights began to even out.

Possibly due to being slightly larger, she was the trailblazer with her climbing skills being the first to climb many different obstacles… the first one being the wall of the kittening pen, closely followed by the wooden divide across the doorway to stop illegal entry into the next door  room!  Once her siblings witnessed her achievements, they would persevere until they too could scale the heights!

Being a typical Aby, she will often climb to great heights with enthusiasm only later realising that often getting back down isn’t always as easy going up!

Despite being adventurous, Yellow has a sort of grown up wisdom about her… not easily phased, sometimes watches from a distance … not always feeling the need to race about and join in , and occasionally choosing to sleep by herself. As well as being an expert climber, she is also Queen of the hunt… and once she captures a feather toy, she will growl and grumble at all takers who try to share her prey! A few chirrups have been heard when she’s excited, so she may be quite the talker.

A fierce little warrior, with rich Usual colours and good markings, Yellow also has tiny wisps of dark tufting on her ears crowning an exceptionally pretty face.  Extremely inquisitive and loves to investigate!

Pink was born the baby of the litter, being the lightest of the 4 kittens. What she then lacked in stature she made up for in personality… and once on solid food, she has thrived and even overtaken some of her siblings in the weight stakes.

Excluding the introduction of solid food when she was the most enthusiastic of the litter, Pink can be a little wary of new toys and experiences… taking her time to see how they work  or to monitor the situation before joining in. However once Pink is involved, her enthusiasm often exceeds that of her siblings and she often continues to play and entertain herself when their interest has waned.

She has the sweetest personality, and whilst sometimes in the first few weeks being a few days behind her siblings with her early developmental milestones… she would happily busy herself with her own little games, not needing the ‘ interference’ of others.

When feeling safe, Pink is often the kitten who will seek out the warmth of a lap when tiredness calls, which makes her a firm favourite with the many visitors we have.

Her Usual colours are rich and deep, her fur coat very short and thick and her tiny little face and bushy tail when she is play-fighting is reminiscent of a gorgeous Red Squirrel.

She can be feisty and brave when playing with her litter mates, but also very caring and sweet when snuggling up to sleep, with a lot of love to give.

Blue was born the 2nd heaviest in the litter, so while Yellow has been considered Big Sister, Blue has generally been seen as next in the line, despite us not recalling the actual order of their birth. Although very self assured, Blue is also a good team player… often leading others into adventures when the opportunity presents itself. Investigation of the tiered ceramic water fountain provided several examples of the famous Aby curiosity , watching how the water moved, where it fell and obviously paddling through it to get to the ‘most interesting’ bit. Team mates were, to varying degrees, not as impressed with the shared ‘wetness’ of these explorations!

Blue has also displayed prowess in gymnastics… not wanting to be outdone by Yellow’s climbing prowess …she managed to hoist and swing herself up over 2 sisal wall posts, in the manner of gymnasts on the asymmetric parallel bars, to reach the lofty heights of Mum’s hitherto unreachable hammock!  Self satisfaction radiated from her little face as she settled down to sleep on high. (Assistance was required for the descent however.) In quieter periods it has been known, in the evening hours when snoozing is on the menu, for Blue to seek out a bit of warmth and security under the blanket of a recumbent human. It is also not unheard of, for a few raspy licks from a tiny tongue to ensue if a bit of human flesh presents itself.

Blue has an exceptionally good ‘innocent’ look (whether guilty of anything or not I couldn’t possibly say) and displays rich Usual colouring and clear Aby markings, finished off with tiny black ear tufts. She has an enquiring and adventurous spirit with a lot of companionship to give.
